World Procurement Awards 2018 Finalists Announced

British Steel has been selected as a finalist in the World Procurement Awards 2018, for the h&z Transformation Award Internal transformation: Establishing the function category.

The World Procurement Awards, in association with SAP Ariba, are the most celebrated and sought-after awards in procurement, representing the best projects, people and organisations across the world. They reward the collective efforts of individuals and teams and are an affirmation of the hard work, innovation and dedication of those at the forefront of this dynamic global profession.

This year saw a record number of entries from some of the most influential companies across 36 countries for our 12th annual awards. The judges were impressed with the sheer quality of this year’s submissions, commenting that the bar had once again been raised, with innovation at the heart of each project as teams across the globe work hard to position themselves as valuable business partners.

Todd Martz, CPO, XL Catlin said: “It was extremely inspiring to read all the submissions this year and see all the great accomplishments in the ‘World of Procurement’. Hats off to the individuals that took the time to recognize their peers and teams on their incredible successes and achievements.”

Lorraine Sawyer, Procurement Director, said: “I’m really proud of what the team has achieved in the last year. The World procurement awards span the globe, so to be shortlisted for all the hard work the team has done on internal transformation, against such stiff competition, is a fantastic achievement.”

Entries endure a rigorous three-stage judging process to ensure complete transparency and guarantee that the winners really are the best of the best. Judges on this year’s panel included CPOs and experts from Bayer, Danske Bank, Mondelēz International, Adidas Group, Mars, Walgreens Boots Alliance, Kellogg and Singtel. The regional panels will be meeting for face-to-face debate over the next month to decide the overall winners of each category.

British Steel’s Procurement team will be attending a prestigious awards ceremony on 17 May 2018 at the Intercontinental London where the winners will be announced. The ceremony will bring together over 850 of procurement’s elite and presents the perfect opportunity to benchmark your function and celebrate procurement excellence with your team.

Congratulations to all finalists and thank you to everyone who took the time to enter. We were overwhelmed with the sheer number of entrants and the evident innovation and passion displayed through these submissions.
