£36 million water park making waves with British Steel

A magnificent £36 million water park is taking shape with the help of British Steel.

The development, which contains 1,200 tonnes of our steel supplied via Billington Structures, is being built in Coventry and will be called The Wave.

It’s due to open in 2019 and is designed to reflect the city’s weaving past with the outside appearing to be wrapped by a swirling ribbon.

Rides include the Navigator – a waterpark version of a roller coaster with uphill and downhill drops in a tube – and the Speed Slide – a whirlpool style ride featuring a thrilling drop of 20 metres and a plunge pool.

Richard Farnsworth, British Steel Managing Director for Construction, said: “This will be an amazing attraction when it’s complete, which will bring huge enjoyment to thousands of people.

“We’ve a close working relationship with Billingtons and this exciting development demonstrates how we work in partnership to help deliver major construction projects.”
