Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway steams ahead with British Steel

A heritage railway in Wales is expanding with the support of British Steel.

We’ve supplied more than 700 metres of track to the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway which is on the site of the former Cynheidre Colliery in Carmarthenshire.

Members of the Army’s 507 Specialist Team Royal Engineers (Rail Infrastructure, 507 STRE) have been laying some of the rails as part of a training exercise.

Darren Cole, British Steel’s UK Supply Chain Account Manager Rail, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the extension of the Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway.

“It’s a superb example of a heritage railway and we’re proud its locos, and many visitors, will be travelling on British Steel rails."
