British Steel will host the North Lincolnshire Jobs Fair again in the new year, with scores of opportunities available from the company and other employers scheduled to attend including Forest Pines Hotel, Ongo and Cat Tech.
It comes after 1,000 people packed out our conference centre earlier this year when we hosted our first jobs fair in conjunction with North Lincolnshire Council and Jobcentre Plus, helping local people get valuable support with job and training opportunities.
The next event, being staged in conjunction with the same partners, will take place on January 31 2018 at the same venue – our headquarters on Brigg Road, Scunthorpe.
And the good news is, there are still spaces available for any local employers wishing to join in.
Paul Martin, British Steel’s Deputy CEO, said: “We were overwhelmed by the success of January’s event and had such positive feedback from both employers and job seekers alike that we decided to make it an annual event.
“At British Steel we take our role in helping our community seriously, and by hosting the North Lincolnshire Jobs Fair we’ll be able to support local people of all ages and qualifications into work.
“We had 19 employers and a number of training providers this year, and we’re hoping for even more next year.”
As well as people being able to register for job alerts, careers experts will be on hand to offer advice and employees from British Steel and Tesco will stage mock job interviews and give tips on creating the perfect CV.
We'll be looking to fulfil our role as the community’s largest employer by showcasing current vacancies along with graduate opportunities, apprenticeship vacancies and more.
Paul said: “The jobs fair will be the perfect chance for people to find a new job or seize a change in career. We’re hoping for prominent employers from an array of different sectors and a wide range of opportunities for people to explore.
“We’re working closely with North Lincolnshire Council and Jobcentre Plus again to stage this and I’d urge any local companies looking to bolster their workforce in the new year to come along to our free event.”
Cllr Rob Waltham, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: "We’re delighted to again be working with British Steel and Jobcentre Plus to help local people, either back into work or into new careers.
“The 2017 jobs fair was a huge success, with hundreds of people getting valuable support about job and training opportunities throughout the area. And I’ve every confidence that with the support of major employers like British Steel, which continues to recruit scores of trainees, apprentices and graduates, the 2018 event will be an even bigger success.
“More businesses continue to invest in North Lincolnshire and I’d encourage them to join us at the fair, to showcase the exciting opportunities they have and meet their potential new employees.”
And Anne Brewster, Employer and Partnership Manager for Jobcentre Plus, said: “We’re really pleased to once again be working in partnership on an event for the people of North Lincolnshire.
“We’ve had a good response from employers with vacancies, but we’ve still got plenty of spaces available so get in touch if you’d like space at this fantastic event.
“We’ll be on hand once again offering career advice, giving those attending some labour market information as well as provide real support to help get through a job interview.
"There will also be specialist advice and support for people with health conditions on how to manage these, including positive advice on looking for work.
“British Steel is a major employer in the area and it is great to work with them and North Lincolnshire Council again on this event.”
Employers scheduled to join us at the jobs fair are:
