British Steel to exhibit at electrodes conference in Iceland

British Steel will attend the 7th International Conference on Electrodes for Primary Aluminium Smelters to provide insight into how our unique Condumax® cathode collector bars can save you up to 20% in electricity costs.

The conference will take place in Reykjavik, Iceland from 25-27 April 2017 with a focus on technical innovation in anodes and cathodes alongside key opportunities and challenges in the aluminium smelting industry.

Mike Nielsen, Sales and Customer Services Manager, said: “We’re excited to be following the recent launch of Condumax at Aluminium Dusseldorf with a new opportunity to discuss the significant benefits our unique product can offer aluminium smelters.

“We hope to contribute to a more productive aluminium industry by recognising the core role of metallurgy in generating electrical efficiency of the product. We look forward to meeting with technical counterparts in the industry to discuss how we can help improve their energy performance.”

Benefits of Condumax include:

  • 40% greater conductivity
  • 20% reduction in energy costs
  • Lower resistivity supported by lowest carbon composition in the world
  • Dimensional manufacture tailored to customer requirements
  • 60 tonne CO2 reduction
  • Proven in European aluminium smelters
