1,200 people attend North Lincolnshire Jobs Fair at British Steel in Scunthorpe

An incredible 1,200 people attended the North Lincolnshire Jobs Fair at British Steel’s Scunthorpe headquarters yesterday.

It’s the second year in a row we’ve staged the event, in conjunction with North Lincolnshire Council and Jobcentre Plus, and this year’s fair had double the number of exhibitors.

Lucy Lings, Senior Resourcing Advisor, said: “We had over 70 local businesses at the event, showcasing hundreds of employment and training opportunities.

“Although we had vacancies to show on the day, the event was more about supporting our local community. We want North Lincolnshire to thrive and that means helping local people.”

As well as people being able to speak to potential employers and register for job alerts, careers experts were on hand to offer advice. And some of our employees staged mock job interviews and gave tips on creating the perfect CV.

Cllr Rob Waltham MBE, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is a fantastic area in which to live and work, demonstrated by the number of businesses that continue to invest in this region and its people.”

Our British Steel stand once again proved extremely popular, with many people asking about the new manufacturing trainee roles.

Lucy said: “We  registered lots of people on the day and we’re hopeful of some good quality candidates applying to be our next generation of steelworkers.”
