Today we said a huge welcome – and that’s no exaggeration – to the largest ever bulk carrier to grace the Humber!
The Hauke Oldenorff is a staggering 300 metres long and 50 metres wide. And when she berthed at our Immingham Bulk Terminal this morning, it’s fair to say you could hardly miss her!
The Portugese vessel has made a massive impression on our port team, but they wasted no time springing into action.
They have already started discharging her cargo – 130,000 tonnes of iron ore shipped to us from South Africa.
The iron ore will later be transported to our steelworks in Scunthorpe as we keep making the iron and steel this country needs.
