We've expanded our service to the UK construction industry by opening a new metal centre with bigger and better facilities to meet your needs.
The facility, based at British Steel’s Scunthorpe headquarters, can supply a wide-range of constructional steel products and services to businesses of all sizes – from major developers to local housebuilders.
The new Scunthorpe Metal Centre, which replaces a smaller facility on the outskirts of the town, has created 10 jobs and further strengthens British Steel’s nationwide network of metal and service centres.
Richard Farnsworth, British Steel’s Managing Director Construction, said: “Our new metal centre is an exciting development, not only for us but for the region’s construction industry.
“Moving to bigger facilities allows us to offer customers an extended range of steel products including our UK manufactured structural sections with next day delivery as standard. We’ll also have further processing facilities including cutting to length so we can tailor our products to customers’ precise requirements.
“This diverse range of high performance products and services means our centre can now serve developers of all sizes, whether they’re building a city centre office block or an extension to a house. And our excellent location means we can deliver, or they can collect, our steel at incredibly short notice – a vital service in the construction industry.
“We want to become the supplier of choice to this region’s construction industry and believe our new Scunthorpe Metal Centre, supported by our facility in Hull, will help us lead business and community re-development throughout the Yorkshire and Humber area.”
The new metal centre is the latest step in British Steel’s commitment to serving the needs of the domestic construction market, forming part of its 15-strong network of service centres, metal centres and sales offices.
Richard added: “Our regional metal centres provide customers with a quick and convenient way of buying a wide range of steel products including sections, bars, angles, channels, plate, sheet, mesh, flooring and hand railing. And as part of an integrated supply chain, our products also come with full traceability.
“Our extensive stock range and own transport fleet enables us to meet customer needs with next-day delivery in the immediate area while customers can also collect their own material from our extensive stockholding.”
As well as cutting to length, the Scunthorpe Metal Centre also offers shot-blasting and painting services.
