British Steel website shortlisted for Steelie award!

Next Monday, 16 October 2017, the World Steel Association (worldsteel) announces the winners of its 8th Steelie Awards – and we’re thrilled our website britishsteel.co.uk has been shortlisted in the Steel industry website of the year category!

Karen Spencer, Marketing Communications Manager at British Steel, said: “We’re thrilled to be shortlisted – it’s great to be recognised for the hard work and efforts the team has put into our new website. We’ve had some challenging and exciting times – working with our new brand and launching our site was extremely rewarding. And, alongside our agency Moirae, we’re continuing to develop the site further and are planning to introduce new functionality to support our growing global customer base.”

worldsteel is a non-profit organisation and represents more than 120 steel producers across the globe. The Steelies recognise member companies or individuals for their contribution to the steel industry in a series of categories that impact our industry and this year’s ceremony takes place next Monday in Brussels.

The website of the year award recognises the membership website that demonstrates communications excellence based on 5 key criteria:

  • overall design
  • loading and page delivery
  • information range and relevance
  • navigation ease
  • use of new technologies

The selection is made through review of all membership sites by a worldsteel expert panel and external communications experts provide an ultimate judgement on the selection.

Karen added: “We know we’re up against some really tough competition and are keeping our fingers crossed! Whatever the outcome, we’re proud of our site and what we’ve worked hard to achieve.”

Shortlisted websites:

  • British Steel
  • Qatar Steel Company
  • Tata Steel Limited
  • thyssenkrupp AG
  • voestalpine AG
