Please provide a brief overview of your first role with British Steel and the journey you’ve taken to your current role
Prior to working for British Steel, I worked as a resident contractor for Hargreaves Industrial Services as a site manager for the coke and coal haulage contract supplying the Ironworks. This role gave me the ability to learn about the site and different customer requirements.
In December 2017, I joined British Steel as Health & Safety Facilitator at Appleby Coke Ovens (ACO) before shortly afterwards moving into my current role as Area Manufacturing Manager where I still have a heavy health and safety influence.
How long have you been with the business?
I worked 4-5 years as a sub-contractor and then became a British Steel employee in December 2017.

Why do you enjoy working for British Steel?
No 2 days are the same, every day presents new challenges and ways to test my abilities. Each customer has their own targets and demands, so achieving these goals requires attention and the ability to react quickly.
British Steel has given me opportunities to develop myself on both a personal and professional level, and so progress as a manager while pursuing my career.
What advice would you give to other people considering a career at British Steel?
