British Steel scoops 3 digital awards!

Last night saw 3 wins for British Steel at a prestigious digital awards ceremony in London hosted by comedian Russell Kane. The Digital Impact Awards set the industry-wide benchmark in digital stakeholder engagement and celebrate work in corporate communications, a great platform to showcase excellence in digital communications.

Our website and intranet had been shortlisted for 3 categories and won awards for all of them, including the top award – gold – for best use of digital from the industrial and basic materials sector.

Liz Brown, Communications Specialist – Brand and Digital Media, said: “We’re really delighted with these great results. Building a new intranet and website with a fresh brand was an exciting challenge and a lot of hard work went into developing these new digital channels, so this is great recognition of everyone’s efforts.”

Around 500 people attended the awards, representing companies including Barclays, Gatwick Airport and adidas Football. Andrew Thomas, publishing editor of Communicator magazine and founder of the awards, said: “This year’s awards signified the leaps and bounds that digital communications are continuing to make across the professional plateau. The sheer quality and character of the evening’s winners exemplifies not only the homogeneity of today’s digital communications, but equally its importance.” In total there were 35 categories, spanning the breadth of digital activities. And with the ongoing growing number of entries, the competition is tough.

But the work for British Steel doesn’t stop here. Liz said: “We’re still developing both our intranet and the website, technology doesn’t stand still and we’re not either. We’re proud of what we’ve done and thankful to everyone that helped. We’re continuing to work closely with our digital agency Moirae and are excited about what innovations lie ahead to move our digital channels forward.”

The results:

  • best use of digital from the industrial and basic materials sector – gold award
  • best digital rebrand – silver award
  • best intranet – bronze award
