Our undergraduates in a meeting.

Are you looking to enhance your academic qualifications with real-life industrial experience?

We offer undergraduate opportunities across the majority of our functions, ranging from three-month placements over the summer, to a full-year.

As a placement student we'll give you a great learning experience; delivering real-life projects for our business and developing valuable skills to help you succeed in your career.

Many of our undergraduates rejoin us year after year, developing a broad experience across our extensive organisation. We offer sponsorship to these individuals, and a 'golden hello' to those that join our Graduate Development Programme.

We have opportunities available across our business for undergraduates to undertake exciting placements lasting between three and 12 months; apply today and you could have experience of working for an industry leading company in your chosen area of expertise.

All placement students receive a warm welcome into our business, and given significant responsibility from the outset. Summer placement students will deliver a project within a specific team, whereas our year placement students will rotate across a couple of departments within their chosen function to give them a breadth of experience. We want to provide all our placements with exciting opportunities and to gain relevant experience before entering the graduate market.

In addition to the learning gained through delivering business projects, placement students also attend a series of training modules, designed to developed their leadership and personal effectiveness skills, as well as build their knowledge about the business and their specific area of expertise.

The most important thing to us is your attitude! We want passionate, hard-working and ambitious professionals to join our team. You must have strong communication skills, be able to work within diverse teams and embrace change. We need you to put the customer at the heart of what you do, think commercially and continually seek to improve the business and yourself.

We require you to be working towards, or hold at minimum a 2:2 degree in a relevant field to the function you’re applying for.

Stage 1: Online application form

We've set up a simple application form for you to tell us about your key achievements. We'll be asking you a number of competence-based questions, so we can assess your suitability to [companyname]. You can complete your application form in one go, or save this as you progress over a period of time to suit you.

Hints and tips:

  • We’re interested in you – so tell us about what YOU have done and achieved
  • Attention to detail is important, take your time, read over your application and make sure everything is correct
  • Keep in mind the type of skills and behaviours that we're looking for

Stage 2: Online video interview

Following a successful application, we'll ask you to complete a video interview. We'll use the time to get to know more about you, your skills, experiences and aspirations. You'll be able to conduct the video interview at a time to suit you.

Hints and tips:

  • A video interview is just as important as if you were meeting us in-person, make sure that you prepare in the same way
  • Keep your surroundings neat and tidy. We’re not your parents but, we don’t want to see the pile of dirty washing behind you either!
  • Be aware that the microphone picks up all the noise in the room so don't tap your pen or shuffle papers
  • Remember to make eye contact, if you don't the camera will be focused on the top of your head
  • Make use of the practice features to see how you appear and sound on screen
  • Answer your questions fully, give us good examples about what YOU have done and achieved

Stage 3: Assessment centre

The assessment centre will include a series of activities: a presentation, a group exercise and a technical/business interview. These activities will enable you to demonstrate your abilities in a range of ways. And don't forget, this is your opportunity to interview us too. Be sure to challenge us and make sure we're a great fit for each other.

Hints and tips:

  • The best advice we can give you for the assessment centre is to be yourself, relax and enjoy the experience - it will help us to get to know each other better
  • Make sure you prepare, whether that’s the pre-defined presentation, or the questions you think we might ask
  • Answer the questions fully and give us examples about what YOU have done and achieved
  • Challenge us, ask questions and make sure we’re a good fit for each other
  • Dress smartly and be on time
  • Know where you're going, plan your journey, allow enough time for travelling
  • Bring all the relevant documents we've asked for

You will be informed of our decision within 2-3 working days of attending the assessment centre.
